Anja Peters studied German, English and American Literature at Frankfurt University, Southampton University and the University of Minnesota. In 2002, she was awarded a PhD by Southampton University, her doctoral thesis was published as "Die rechte Schau". Blick, Macht und Geschlecht in Annette von Droste-Hülshoffs Verserzählungen (Schöningh, 2004). Dr Peters subsequently taught at Manchester University, before joining Royal Holloway in 2003 as Lecturer in German and German Language Co-ordinator. Dr Peters has published widely on 19th-century German women writers and the correspondences between writers and publishers.
