Dr Andrea Medrado

Personal profile

Dr Andrea Medrado is a postdoctoral researcher working on a project on “multiplatforming public service broadcasting”, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and led by Dr James Bennett. She is an experienced ethnographer, having spent over 40 weeks working in a range of television and digital media production companies in order to understand how notions of public service broadcasting circulated in the independent sector. 

Her doctoral thesis (University of Westminster, 2010) consisted of an ethnographic study of the daily listening to community radio in a Brazilian favela. Andrea also has extensive experience teaching at universities in Brazil, United States and United Kingdom. Outside of academia, she has worked as a creative writer in advertising agencies and in a number of political campaigns in Brazil.
