Dr Amanda Rogers

Personal profile

Dr. Amanda Rogers is a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow conducting research on ‘Geographies of Transnational Theatrical Creativity.’ She is a social and cultural geographer whose interests lie in critical theory on identity, race, and difference; transnational, diasporic, and creative communities; and the theory and practice of performance. Amanda was previously awarded an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship after completing her Ph.D. on ‘Geographies of identity and performance in Asian American theatre’ in 2007. Her research has entailed in-depth ethnographic study of the practical processes of theatre, but she has also worked as an assistant director, stage manager, assistant stage manager, production assistant, and house manager. Although much of her research to date has been based in the United States, particularly Los Angeles and New York, Amanda has also been involved in roundtable discussions with theatre companies in the UK, Singapore, and Taiwan.
