SENIOR TEACHING FELLOW MEDIA ARTS

Following 25 years working in industry, most recently as Senior Executive Producer at Ricochet (Shed Media) where I was founding Series Producer and EP of Supernanny, I am CONVENOR and Tutor of 2nd year Producing non-fiction course, and teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. I co-designed the MA Media Management course.

Research interests

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, STORYFUTURES ACADEMY. I was on the team that bid for and won the £10 million award for the National centre for Immersive Storytelling. I run groundbreaking training and placement schemes for creative talent from film,TV. theatre and games enabling them to acquire new immersive skills  and gain hands-on experience on immersive proudctions. I also devised and run the Train the Trainer programme for HEI teams from across the UK, building a wider network of trainers in immersive storytelling. new courses and a talent piepilne.

As DIGITAL PRODUCER of Adapt TV History Project, I was responsible for creating the award-winning film assets of the project, and for forging a new methodology in research, of using hands-on history to reunite veteran crew with the original equipment they once worked with, in 're-enactments' of. the past.

I produced and directed over 150 hours of films covering:

16mm filming from 1960's on ( for documentary and current affairs):

Live Outside Broadcasts from late 60s, early 70s on (particularly live sport which made up much of the weekend viewing, but also music and entertainment and events such as royal funerals, weddings) 

Post Production covering the changes from analogue to digital as television editing underwent huge technological transformation in the 1980s and early 90s. The collection is held at:

Research interests (continued)

Amanda Murphy is an accomplished BAFTA award-winning Producer with a reputation for devising and producing complex pioneering successes such as the UK’s first Big Brotherin 2000 and global hit series Supernanny which she devised and Executive Produced for both Channel 4 in the UK and ABC, America.  

She won a BAFTA for Producing the short form film 'Missed Call' in 2019.

Her vast portfolio ranges from social documentary and factual series to reality TV and Hollywood entertainment and includes; My new Home, Scrapheap Challenge, No Going Back, The Real Swiss Family Robinson, Breaking into Tesco, Classic Aircraft, Great British Aircraft, Lights camera Action! and Hollywood Report.

Amanda brings her extensive 30 years of broadcast experience to her research work where as Executive Producer of StoryFutures Academy

As Producer of the Adapt TV Historyproject, she. created a new digital archive of over 100 hours of films reuniting TV veterans with original kit, while using a state of the artt 14 camera fixed rig  to fully capture their hands-on experience of re-using the tools of their jobs to tell the story of how television was made in the early heroic years.

 

Amanda is interested in digital legacy, and cutting edge storytelling whether for broadcast, a digital platform or an immersive experience. Via her teaching and mentoring, she is focusing on developing next generation storytellers. Students are invited to work on her projects. Reviews include:
