Alix works as a lecturer on the post qualifying programmes at Royal Holloway, and acts as Programme Director for the MSc in Advanced Practice and as module leader for the Consolidation module and Practice Educator modules.

Alix is a registered social worker with extensive experience in social work, further and higher education, and in managing a training & consultancy business. Alix also currently works as a freelance trainer and consultant, and has lectured on a number of other university post-qualifying programmes.

Alix's research interests include newly qualified social worker’s experiences of the national NQSW/ASYE schemes; work-based learning & professional development; the impact of organisations on social work practice and learning. Alix's recent research includes studies of social workers workspaces & the experience of hot-desking.
