Personal profile

Dr Abdul Rehman Shahid is a Lecturer in Operations Management and Information Systems at the Department of Digital Innovation and Management.

His research focuses on the impact of crowdsourcing initiatives. He has previously written on the impact of crowdmapping on humanitarian response. Moreover, his research explores the dynamics of crowdsourcing communities, including expectations, motivations, and control issues. Of recent, Abdul Rehman is also exploring the organisational and technological platform’s that foster entrepreneurship. Abdul Rehman has presented his research at leading conferences, including the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) and the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) WG 8.6.

Abdul Rehman has completed his PhD from the School of Business and Management at Royal Holloway, University of London, where he was awarded the prestigious ‘Reid Research Scholarship’ for academic excellence. He also holds an MSc with Distinction in Business IT from Strathclyde Business School.

Teaching

Abdul Rehman is an award-winning Lecturer, with extensive teaching experience in leading UK and international institutions, including the University of Sussex, Regent’s University London, and Information Technology University (ITU).

In acknowledgement of his teaching, he was recently presented with a teaching award in ‘recognition for ongoing commitment and dedicated service’.

Abdul Rehman is a Fellow of The Higher Education Academy (HEA), United Kingdom. During his career, he has supervised several theses to successful completion.

Consultancy

Abdul Rehman has undertaken consultancy for several profit and non-profit organisations. Examples include:

- Working with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), established by the Government of Punjab, Pakistan, advising on the implementation and usage of crowdsourcing technologies.

- Providing personalised professional education and training for organisations.

He is open to further consultancy-related opportunities.
