Description

This paper elucidates Carolyn Forché’s preoccupation and understanding of poetry as witness and the reader as witness in order to observe what happens to the reader’s experience when we read the title poem ‘The Angel of History.’ The reader’s experience is my experience in this chapter. I argue that when I read 'The Angel of History,' I embody a secondary dialogue against the backdrop of home, hauntings and ghostly voices. I explore how these ghostly, unidentifiable voices are housed in Forche’s linguistic meditations?
