Description

Paper given at the 2017 International Medieval Congress at Leeds.

In this paper, I discussed monastic representations of timewasting against the backdrop of the post-industrial call-centre and the gig economy. I argued that time-wasting is not a historicised phenomenon, but a basic and inevitable human trait even within the most totalising of scheduling systems.
