Description

October 2009, I have been convening the Latin America Research Group (LARG) at Royal Holloway, University of London. In light of the long-standing dialogues held across geographical and cultural borders in the region, LARG was conceived in response to the current renegotiation of Area studies, as a platform on which to develop our work. The comparativist nature of the Group harnesses the respective specialisms of the members and furthers possible collaborations and theoretical directions.

LARG engages undergraduate, postgraduate and staff members alike from the University in a transdisciplinary dialogue, drawing participants from Hispanic Studies, Music, Geography, Politics and Drama. The Group meets twice a term (6 meetings annually) and takes the format of work in progress presentations, film screenings and discussions on readings around shared research interests.
