Description
A one-day participatory performance workshop for spatial writing and FM radio, run by sound artist Chris Wood at Matt's Gallery in Mile End, London.This workshop explored the meanings created by radio as a technical object, and the potential of radio to construct, mediate and multiply place, through the use of narrative to compose a site.
Works were written in response to the space and history of the site around Matt's Gallery in Mile End park, recorded in the Crystal Set studio within the gallery, and then broadcast on loop on short range FM transmitters built from hacked Raspberry Pis and placed around Mile End park and the canal.
The workshop concluded with a collective radio performance using handheld FM radio receivers, exploring and amplifying both the existing radio spectrum and the elements added to it during the workshop.
