Description

China’s presence in Africa and its impact

Based on the detailed firsthand studies since 2005 of leading Chinese multinationals in manufacturing, services and natural resources, the presentation will analyse the motives, enables, strategies and impacts of the rapid external expansion of Chinese companies to Africa. In addition, an integrated analytical framework is set up to examine the development implications of foreign direct investment (FDI) by taking the example of the Chinese FDI in Africa. The model integrates insights from development, international business, and institutional perspectives so that FDI’s impact on development can be better understood and positively pursued.
