HARC Welcoming Strangers Event, organised by Daniela Berghahn. Award-winning documentary filmmaker Marc Isaacs and Professor John Ellis discussed some of Marc Isaacs' films that explore the marginalization of ‘strangers’ in Britain and of those clamouring at the gates of Fortress Europe. The discussion included numerous extracts from documentaries such as Lift, Calais: The Last Border and All White in Barking that engage with notions of hospitality and xenophobia and that constitute powerful interventions in public discourses on migration and cultural diversity.
