BRAZIL’S STRENGTH

With its ever increasing stream of new infrastructure development opportunities in a wide range of sectors, Brazil is fulfilling its promise as one of the most lucrative markets for investors.

The fundamental strength of its economy has allowed Brazil to retain its status as a leading destination for foreign investment. It is stronger than it was before the global crisis and it has increased momentum more rapidly than most. Many domestic companies had already been running lean, so were well prepared to weather the downturn and, throughout it, internal consumer demand remained high, which kept unemployment low.

President Dilma Rousseff’s administration is acutely aware that the infrastructure development that is crucial for sustained long term growth must keep pace with the rest of the economy. The US$890bn PAC and PAC2 programmes paved the way for infrastructure investment and its effects have begun to be felt, with the race to invest in projects to improve every aspect of the country’s infrastructure in the run up to the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics well under way.
