Description

Sarah’s poetic practice is both playful and philosophical. Sarah’s poetic practice is queerly moving objects and objects moving queerly. Her current project explores the intersections between cosmogony and glossolalia. Glossolalia is the pocket lint of poetics; pocket lint is an accumulation of loose strands of textiles that have become unattached from the larger body of the garment (subsidiary components might also include fragments of paper, sand, sweets, dog treats). The poem is a coming together of loose strands, fragments of the cosmos, the nonsense of creation. The cosmogony of the poem is playful nonsense. Cosmogony is a clutter of objects in a drawer. Gertrude Stein writes that ‘the sentence is drawers and drawers of drawings’. Why should the poem mean anything, when meaning is nonsense and nonsense is meaning? The poem is ash, milk, sugar, lint.
