Abstract
A reading of the correspondence between Charles Olson and Frances Boldereff to demonstrate her importance to Olson's poetics and thinking both through her training as a book designer, which encouraged Olson to consider the role of typographic spacing, and through her interest in Egyptian and Sumerian cultures, which encouraged Olson's interest in myth and the archaic.
