Abstract
'When I image the earth, I imagine another' is a speculative fiction text for Ecoes 3, a research-led magazine on art in the age of pollution published by Sonic Acts. The text traces the formation of a transnational network of womxn an nonbinary folks who track a bomb cyclone across the South Pacific through the transmissions of a zombie satellite called NOAA-2. The essay takes inspiration from the emerging open-weather network and the open-weather nowcast for COP26, commissioned by The Photographer's Gallery and Tabakalera.
