Abstract

It can be difficult to balance parental responsibilities with academic life. With frequent travel, long working hours, fixed-term contracts and prolonged or regular fieldwork, geoscientists face many difficulties when balancing academic life and parental responsibilities. Increased financial and institutional support is needed to alleviate the burden often felt by academic parents.
