Abstract
Fundamentally, this book is an introduction to terrorism, its past, present and future. Terrorism is surrounded by myth, propaganda and half-truths, but this book aims to peel away the fables and reveal what terrorism really is, its long history, how and why it happens, its likely future, and what governments could do (and should have done) when they grabbled with terrorism. It is a book about blunders and miscalculations, heroes and villains, of the danger of underestimating a weak enemy and the hubris of empires. It encompasses tales of courage and despair, ruthlessness and tragedy, brutality and hope.
