Abstract
TECHNO-UTOPIA is a concerto created in collaboration between Robert Laidlow and Zubin Kanga. The work features an AI Model (using IRCAM's RAVE software) that is trained on the broadcast archive of the BBC Philharmonic.
This model is performed by Zubin Kanga, traversing the AI content using a specialist instrument (built for this purpose) the Stacco, created by the Intelligent Instruments Lab (Cyborg Soloists partner). The archive is also performed using a concatenation AI played using a ROLI Seaboard. Zubin Kanga also performs on the piano and keyboard, quoting works from the archive, alongside the live orchestra.
The work was performed and recorded for broadcast on the BBC.
