Abstract

Invited presentation and performance about cricket balls, bowling, ‘tampering’. The presentation touches on education, ‘knowledge’ and suppressed virtuosity, sport and dis/simulation, techniques for cheating and for peopling loneliness. Using a 40 year-old Wisden entry as score, the performance restages actions from the summer of 1975, and a childhood of balls.

Part of ‘The Things They Do’, day-long event in response to the Ragnar Kjartansson major retrospective exhibition at the Barbican Gallery, London. Contributors: Emma Bennett, Karen Christopher, Broderick Chow, Richard DeDomenici, Laure Fernandez, Jordan McKenzie, Stacy Makishi, Madison Moore, Hayley Newman, Gary Stevens, Simon Vincenzi, David Williams.
