Abstract

The paper presents new evidence on the Emperor Manuel II Palaeologus' diplomatic activity during his sojourn in Paris (1400-1402), involving negotiations over union between the Greek and Latin Churches and attempts within the Latin Chrurch to put an end to the Western Schism. This evidence is contained in Manuel's hitherto unpublished treatise On the Procession of the Holy Spirit and Macarius of Ankyra's treatise On the Errors of the Latins.
