Abstract
Professional video highlighting the outputs from this ESRC SSIA- and HSPC-funded project on the governance implications of increased planning applications for new rural and peri-urban solar farms. Crucially, many of the hitherto problems and perceived or real land-use conflicts can be addressed by a combination of modified regulations and assessment procedures on the one hand, and technological developments and lessons of experience on the other, to the point where PV production and significant or even substantial biodiversity net gain can be achieved simultaneously. This therefore exemplifies the positive combination of mitigation and adaptation to climate change. In some cases, other co-benefits are also possible.
