Abstract

During a typical supply chain performance audit of three manufacturing SMEs, eyebrow-raising decisions were being made by staff and management due to their preferences, prejudices and personnel relationships. Fierce loyalty towards underperforming suppliers was a particular trait that impeded lead time reduction and undermined operational resilience.
