Abstract

The volume was born out of two scholarly events co-organised by the Hellenic
Institute of Royal Holloway, University of London: the International Virtual Conference “Borderland: Christian Identities and Cultures in Early Modern Cyprus and Beyond”, organised jointly with the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation, the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, the Centre for Greek Diaspora Studies and the Centre for the Geo-Humanities of Royal Holloway, University of London (6–7 May 2022); and the 2022 Institute of Classical Studies Virtual Byzantine Colloquium “The Late Byzantine Mediterranean: Byzantine Connectivities, Experiences and Identities in a Fragmented World”, co-organised with the Society for Cypriot Studies, the Cyprus Committee for Byzantine Studies and the Centre for Greek Diaspora Studies of Royal Holloway, University of London under the aegis of the Institute of Classical Studies, University of London (7–8 June 2022). The volume comprises the revised, expanded and annotated papers of most speakers participating in these two gatherings as well as other contributions.
