Abstract
The article offers an overview of the papers bequeathed by Frank William Walbank to the Special Collections and Archive of the Sydney Jones Library, University of Liverpool. The Archive consists of 31 boxes and 9 oversize folders, comprising a total of 7,846 entries divided into 64 folders: the documents cover the entirety of FWW's life and academic career. The material preserved can help researchers in investigating Walbank's biographical vicissitude and intellectual development: some examples are offered in the context of an introductory discussion of Walbank's life. Finally, the article presents a selection of potential research paths. The examples considered are private and political material from the 1930s-40s (to integrate and challenge the narrative of Walbank's own memoir, the Hypomnemata, 1992); unpublished lectures and papers; Polybian letters; and correspondence with Russian scholars.
