Abstract
The continental sediments occupying the western sector of the Guadix Basin (Betic Cordillera) host a set of macromammal sites dating from close to the Pliocene-Pleistocene boundary. This paper synthesizes the activities developed so far in the framework of a PhD thesis started in 2005, related to the stratigraphic characterization of the most important sites. Likewise, there is a reference to a preliminary paleoichnologic study focused on a fluvial palaeosurface associated to the most outstanding site, called Fonelas P-1.
