Abstract
"Is there or is there not absolute truth?" This introductory essay gives an account of Victor Cousin's answer to this question and, through it, his account of the possibility of metaphysics. It reconstructs his "theory of absolute truths" as set out in his early lecture courses, summarised and revised in the Prefaces to Philosophical Fragments and then repurposed in his later spiritualist manuals.
