Abstract

This essay highlights how normative developments around the idea of a 'caring society' capture Latin America’s efforts to alter the institutions, norms, and practices that govern the distribution of caring responsibilities, focusing on unpaid carers. For this particular group, innovative care policies shift how states value the invisible labor traditionally undertaken by women in the home.
