Abstract

This software package facilitates conversion of EEG brain data into OSC, transferring into Max/MSP for spectral analysis. This can be used for control of music software using a steady state system.

The steady state phenomemon has been used in medical and accessibility use cases (including language software and control of prosthetics) but this is the first time it has been applied to music. It is also the first example of any kind of brain sensors being used for live conscious control of music.

The software plays a central role in Steady State, co-created by Alexander Schubert, Zubin Kanga, and a creative team.
