This new edition of Theodor Fontane's 1895 novel Effi Briest includes an afterword by Charlie Lee-Potter. She assesses the novel and draws links between it and Thomas Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbevilles, Gustave Flaubert's Madame Bovary, and Leo Tolstoy's Anna Karenina.
