Abstract
Geography has been described as a future oriented discipline and indeed, has fruitfully utilising the future as both a conceptual and analytical tool. However, less work has engaged with the future in relation to both the discipline itself and academia more broadly, with little consideration given to the ways that the future is enrolled in everyday academic lives.
In this reflection, we apply the lens of the future to academia itself to interrogate the following questions: How is the future enrolled into academia? What do these futures mean for the present? And finally, is there a future for academia?
