A Review of a Sharding Protocol for Blockchain Technology in Supply Chains

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contribution

Abstract

In the past few years, distributed ledger/blockchain technology is being adopted in many industries worldwide. However, scalability, which is frequently associated with nodes maintaining the same ledger together and complete nodes maintaining a full copy of the blockchain, may be a barrier to blockchain adoption. Sharding is a strategy for dealing with scalability problems. The use of sharding applications, on the other hand, is primarily limited to cryptocurrencies and financial applications. This paper explores the practical byzantine fault tolerance (PBFT) sharding protocol that can be applied to the blockchain used in a multi-tier supply chain.
