Project Details

Description

This interdisciplinary public research series brings together contemporary thinkers, artists, and activists to explore alternative worlds and futures through abolitionist, anti-racist, anti-fascist, and anti-imperialist frameworks. Using the methodology of critical fabulation, the series integrates film, music, discussion, and study to catalyse critical dialogue and transformative action.

Running from April to June 2025, the programme is designed for (post)graduate students, academics, and members of the public, fostering connections across disciplines and geographies. Events are held at Pelican House, a community social centre, and Café Oto in East London, both renowned for hosting socially engaged experiments. The series is curated by Lilly Markaki and funded by the Humanities and Arts Research Institute and the Department of Media Arts at Royal Holloway, University of London.

April-June 2025: 5-part programme including talks, screenings, and workshops featuring Tapiwa Svosve, Lola Olufemi, Arjuna Neuman, Nat Raha, Mijke van der Drift, and Gargi Bhattacharyya.
