Description
PhD thesis designing prototype beam position monitor using incoherent Cherenkov diffraction radiation. Device was optimised for and tested at Diamond Light Source in the booster to storage transfer line.
Key findings
Results showed that incoherent ChDR can be used to measure beam position with a maximum operational range found of 3 mm. Results have also shown that optical fibres as a method of coupling BPM signal to external detector are also viable.
