Description
This research project is a co-commission by the Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre and Arts Council England.
Working with the Theatre Green Book, its aims are to:
- examine transitional pathways to sustainable theatre production in a post-Covid, post-Brexit landscape;
- identify the challenges, their solutions and growth requirements of low carbon/low waste production in a variety of theatre-making contexts;
- develop, demonstrate and evaluate theatre-making models and production strategies that embed circular economy principles;
- produce evidence, policy recommendations and enhanced supporting materials that strategically address the UK theatre industry’s environmental impacts.
Its key research methods are to produce Case Studies of 3 productions following the Theatre Green Book by Royal Shakespeare Company, Theatre Alibi, and National Theatre of Scotland.
