Project Details

Description

This event is part of the national the Festival of Social Science. We will promote the importance of allowing for space and opportunity for young people to engage and connect to nature. The event will bring together individuals and organisations who are working with young people from across the UK, to discuss research findings, and attendee experiences. We will support attendees with ideas for how they may foster inclusive nature engagement in their own ‘space’.

Through the event we will bring together findings from two research groups working with Kew RBG, as well as experiences from our Kew RBG project partner in developing an enhancing nature connectedness training programme for teachers, to deliver an event that is a combination of talks, walks and a workshop. We will put nature engagement at the forefront of our event, providing hands on experiences. We seek to embed the principles to empower attendees to promote and advocate for the importance of young people to spend time engaging and connecting with nature and for curriculum developments and structure to the school day. We will provide bite-size training in how to engage with nature to enhance nature connectedness, raising awareness and confidence to support others in connecting to nature.
