Project Details
Description
Key aims are to identify and characterise Cobalt (and other ECE) mineralogy across the Lake District region, building an understanding of the mineralisation and the source(s) of Cobalt. This will be used to build a regional scale metallogenetic model for Cobalt in these '5-Element-Type' systems, followed by a comparative study with a database of global cobalt mineralogical occurrences to establish defined cobalt forming models with applicability to mineral exploration.
Key findings
Updated mineralogical paragenetic sequences for Scar Crags and Dale Head North, two cobalt-bearing localities in the Lake District. Ongoing work to follow.
