Imagine if learning about sustainability and making eco-friendly choices felt as engaging as playing a game. This project explores how gamificationâadding interactive, fun, and reward-based elementsâcan encourage people, especially in underrepresented communities, to adopt more sustainable behaviors.
The idea is to use digital tools and game-like experiences (such as earning points, unlocking badges, and seeing progress in real-time) to motivate individuals to reduce their carbon footprint. The research also focuses on social justice, ensuring that people from marginalized communitiesâwho are often the most affected by environmental issuesâhave access to digital literacy and sustainability education.
By integrating social proof (seeing others take action) and emotional engagement (feeling a personal connection to sustainability), the project aims to turn passive awareness into active change. Ultimately, it seeks to empower communities to become leaders in the fight against climate change by making sustainability more inclusive, interactive, and engaging.
