Key findings
An opportunity is opening up over the next three to five years to examine the largely secretive world of National Oil Companies (NOCs) as they consider offering partial sales of their companies onto the open market. The minimum disclosure rules required by global stock markets will allow a greater level of analysis and enquiry than the current opaqueness of NOCs. By examining the financial accounts, organisational structures, corporate governance control and agreements the key differences between NOCs and International Oil Companies (IOCs) (both operating in the same environment) will be laid open to comparison
