Description
NATO has instituted a strategy in Afghanistan, whereby the exit of the Alliance is dependent on the creation of an effective Afghan National Army. NATO expects that the ANA will be a stabilizing force in Afghanistan. However, the balance of power between civilian and military structures in a state is one of the most difficult to achieve and remains a topic of interest in even the most developed states. This project utilizes a structural framework of analysis to explore whether or not the ANA will contribute or reduce stability in Afghanistan.
