Work from James Clifford Kent’s ongoing long-form project ‘¡No hay más na'! (There's nothing left) – which has involved working with Cuban communities and documenting ongoing challenges during Cuba's worst economic crisis in decades – was shortlisted for the British Journal of Photography’s Portrait of Humanity prize – an international photography award showcasing the diversity of human experiences across the world. His shortlisted portrait of young Cuban boxer Nailan featured in his article 'Born fighting: From the streets of Cuba to the boxing ring' published in The Times. It will feature, along with his BJP POH picture of NHS consultant obstetrician Osaeloke, in the Portrait of Humanity Vol. 6 book (Bluecoat Press, Sept 2024).
