Bill Downes Award

Prize: National/international honour

Description

Belinda (Bill) Downes was a clinical psychologist, whose flourishing career working with older people was sadly cut short by cancer in her mid-40s.

An award in her name was bequeathed to the Faculty of the Psychology of Older People (British Psychological Society) after her death, and is judged each year by Professor Jan Oyebode and Bill's husband, Steve. It is awarded to mid-career clinical psychologists who have demonstrated commitment, innovation and particular impact in working psychologically with older people.
