Dr William Jamieson is a political and cultural geographer who works on the global sand crisis. He has pioneered granular geography to understand how sand's granular materiality shapes urban and territorial development globally, alongside its environmental and social impact, and its intersection with climate change and sea level rise. He has also developed creative writing as a critical methodology for interrogating speculative urbanism, employing social scientific research methods and transforming qualitative data into situated forms of creative writing that critique capitalism's geographic practices.
