Dr Vladimir Dyo is a Lecturer in Communications and Signal Processing in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Royal Holloway, University of London, and a member of the Microwave Photonics, Sensors (MPS) Research Group. He received an MSc in Data Communications, Networks and Distributed Systems from University College London in 2003 and completed his PhD in 2009 under the supervision of Prof Cecilia Mascolo. He is a recipient of the Shell Centenary Scholarship and the EPSRC/Vodafone Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Award, and a winner of the UCL Anvil Prize. Before joining Royal Holloway, he was a founding member of the Electronic Engineering programme at the University of Bedfordshire, a research intern at Microsoft Research Cambridge and a visiting researcher at the University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory.

His expertise spans wireless systems and the Internet of Things, with current interests in Drive-by sensing and RF sensing for object classification.  He has published in venues including IEEE Sensors Journal, IEEE Access, IET Communications, ACM Transactions on Sensor Networks, and leading conferences such as ACM SenSys and IEEE/ACM DCOSS. 

Vladimir is the Module Lead for the EE3000 Undergraduate Final-Year Project and the EE4000 MEng Team Project. He obtained the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) in 2010 and subsequently became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His teaching and tutoring have been recognised through student nominations for the Inspirational Teaching Award and the Best Personal Tutor Award. His recent education-focused work was published in "Revolutionizing Higher Education: Unleashing the Potential of Large Language Models for Strategic Transformation", in IEEE Access. He currently teaches the following modules:
