As part of RHUL's ATLAS group, I work on the search for new physics, beyond the Standard Model, in the dilepton decay channel. This channel has a rich history of discovery in particle physics, offering a well-reconstucted, low-background final state.

At present I am involved in the search for Z' heavy gauge bosons in ATLAS Run 3 collision data. These are predicted by certain Grand Unified Theories, and their discovery would have enormous significance for our of understanding the Universe and the shape of the particle physics to come. The search for Z' bosons in the dilepton channel has been a flagship of ATLAS' exotic physics programme for many years now, with this latest Run 3 effort probing the highest-energy proton collisions yet.
