Dr Tega Akpobi joined the School of Strategy, International Business and Entrepreneurship in 2022 as Senior Lecturer in International Business. Prior to joining Royal Holloway, he was Assistant Professor at Coventry Business School where he was course director of the BA International Business (top-up) course at Coventry University. Tega has a doctorate from University of Stirling and a Masters in Business Administration from Lancaster University Management School where he was recipient of The Lancaster MBA scholarship. He has worked in both academia and the private sector including at EDF Energy UK and BASF Plc UK.

His research interests lie in the area of strategic management with a particular focus in microfoundations research. This line of work is rooted in Cyert and March’s Behavioral Theory of the Firm and part of the larger Behavioral Strategy research field. Tega’s work has been presented at international conferences including the European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS) and European Academy of Management (EURAM) where he was awarded 2019 Best Paper Award for the Microfoundations of Strategy Track and nominated (finalist) for the Most Inspirational Paper Award for the SIG Strategic Management.

Tega has an active role in the academic community. He is currently a proponent for the Microfoundations of Strategy Track at European Academy of Management where he co-organises conferences and informs academic discourse. Tega underakes teaching responsibilities on MN1205 International Business and MN3915 Responsible Business in Context in autumn term and MN2205 Strategic Management in spring term. He co-delivers BU2560 The Global Economy and Multinational Enterprise on Coursera and MN2260K Strategic Management on Kaplan. He has supervised dissertations and doctorial research and welcomes PhD students interested in research in strategic management and international business.
