Personal profile
Personal profile
I am a Lecturer in Philosophy and Gender Studies. I specialise in applied- and meta- metaphysics, but my interests are wide-ranging and span the areas of feminist/queer theory, critical socio-legal theory, the epistemology of logic, bioethics, and the philosophy of science and technology. I am fascinated by the emptiness of nothing, the totality of everything, and the boundaries we socially construct around the 'some-things' in between, including from Kabbalistic and Buddhist perspectives. Regarding the boundaries between humans and genders, I am leading a project 'Trans/Forming Pregnancy' on gender diversity and reproduction. My academic publications can be viewed on PhilPeople and I have written multiple times for the magazine Aeon. I have published two books, Women of Ideas (2021, Oxford University Press) and What's in a Doughnut Hole? and other philosophical food for thought (2026, Icon). I am currently working on my third book, with the support of my literary agent, Ben Clark at The Soho Agency. As a musician, I have compositions signed with Universal and Ninja Tune. In terms of academic affiliations, I am co-Director of the Society for Women in Philosophy UK, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, on the Council for The Royal Institute of Philosophy, and a Trade Unionist with RHUL UCU.
