Personal profile

Olga Kravets is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing at Royal Holloway's School of Management. She joined in September 2015, having moved from Bilkent University (Turkey), where she was an Assistant Professor of Marketing. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Sydney, Australia. Prior to becoming an academic, she worked in market research industry, mainly on social and government research projects. She teaches a range of subjects from Market Research, Consumer Behaviour, and Marketing Strategy (undergraduate and MBA level) to Advanced Consumer Behaviour and Research Methods (postgraduate/doctoral level).  

Her research interests lie with the historical, socio-cultural, and political aspects of consumption and markets. Her latest research critically examined the politics of consumption among the new middle classes and was published in Journal of Marketing. Her pervious work was published in Business History ReviewEphemera, Journal of MacromarketingJournal of Marketing ManagementJournal of Material Culture, and edited books. She serves on the editorial review boards for Marketing Theory and Journal of Macromarketing, and is the president-elect for the International Society for Markets and Development. She is currently editing a volume for Sage entitled Handbook of Consumer Culture (forthcoming in 2017).
