Dr Millicent Ele is a lecture in Law at Royal Holloway, University of London, Department of Law and Criminology. Before joining RHUL in May 2024, she was a lecture in law at Sussex University, England, and a Teaching Fellow in Law at the University of Aberdeen School of Law, Scotland. She previously lectured for many years at the Faculty of Law, University of Nigeria, Nigeria.

Millicent is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and has been admitted to practice law in Nigeria and the State of New York, USA. She has published peer-reviewed articles in respected law journals and contributed substantial research and editorial work to ‘The Public Health Law Manual’ (3rd Ed.).

Her research and teaching interest is in environmental law particularly corporate environmental liability and pollution control. She is also interested in the sustainable use of natural resources, clean energy, public health law/global health, and climate justice. She is currently working on a book on Corporate Environmental Responsibility and Pollution Control Laws: The Case of Oil Spills in the Niger Delta. This work is based substantially on her PhD work.

At various stages in her law teaching career, Millicent has taught Environmental law, contract law, alternative methods of dispute resolution, intellectual property law, as well as seminars in a host of law courses including the English legal system, public international law, law of torts, criminal law, land law and Foundations of private law.

Millicent currently contributes to the teaching of contract law and land law, and is a co-convener of the English Legal System at RHUL.
