Working in the area of cryptography, specifically so-called "Algorithm Subsitution Attacks" or ASAs. ASAs are subverted implementations of cryptographic primitives that aim to compromise some aspect of security, usually considered from the point of view of a mass surveillance adversary wishing to compromise users' privacy or confidentiality.
